187 (City of Worcester) Squadron

The Cadets of 187 Squadron were able to carry out their Target Shooting and Marksmanship Training at a new location this month.

Instead of training at the local TA Centre the Squadron travelled to Nescliffe Training Camp in Shropshire over the Bank Holiday Weekend to spend the day on the indoor range there.

Great fun was had by all, especially those first time firers with two Cadet NCOs narrowly missing out on Squadron and Wing Marksmanship awards. More pictures can be found in the gallery section.

The Officers and Squadron SNCO recently took the opportunity to put the Cadet NCOs of 187 Squadron through their paces over a weekend and provide some refresher training on the skills and qualities needed by our Junior Leaders.

These included Leadership, Communications, Morale, Dress Regulations and Standards and of course Drill and Drill Instruction!

Four more cadets from 187 Squadron recently experienced the thrill of Air Experence Gliding at our local Volunteer Gliding Squadron at Little Rissington.

Three of the Cadets were first timers and all gained their Gliding Introduction Certificates (level 1)!

4 Cadets and 1 member of staff have recentley returned from a weeks camp at RAF Lossiemouth in Northern Scotland.

The Cadets spent the week living on an operational front line RAF Base and experienced the life of RAF personnel for themsleves. They visited many of the sections and units on the base to see for themselves the work that they do.

The cadets also took part in a wide range of activites including Target Shooting, Swimming, Sports, Fieldcraft, Leadership Exercises, a high ropes course, and much more.

Cadet Osborne of 187 Squadron was also awarded Best Cadet for his part on the camp proving the high standards that Worcester Squadron expects of its cadets!
