Adventure training is a wide subject. It encompasses a lot of different activities such as Orienteering, Navigation, Hill Walking, Outdoor Pursuits and much more.
Orienteering is extremely popular amongst the cadets. It involves picking up markers hidden is discreet places often with a code, and its up to the cadets to pick up the code and decipher it. The main aim of orienteering is precise navigation over a small area, often to within metres.

Navigation is also needed to make sure you know where you are going. On long distance walks, the smallest error, could cost you your life out hillwalking. Precise navigation is also a good team motivator, making the team become stronger, and often covering more ground.
There is more to adventure training than just walking. There's camping in tents for the first time, carrying your own equipment and looking after it, and cooking your own meals. The Squadron also regularly goes Mountain Biking in the Malvern Hills which has proved very popular with the cadets.
As a general rule of thumb, the squadron aims to have at least one activity a month, and this could be anything.
